IN THE BEGINNING
10-year-old, Hunter,
decided burning leaves and pieces of paper was fun, but he could make it into something super cool if he could burn images onto wood. |
He told his mom he thought he could "make something nice" with his newfound hobby of burning things with a magnifying glass and the power of the sun, and he was right!
When Hunter realized he was actually very good at what he was doing, his whole attitude changed. He was encouraged and started to believe in himself, whereas he had previously struggled with lack of self-esteem and the ability to focus on any one thing for too long. "SonBurning," as the family started calling it, was calming, centering, and empowering for him. |
After only 3 days of practice, and a little guidance from his mom on how to transfer images with a computer print-out, black crayon and a pencil, Hunter produced his first masterpiece using only a magnifying glass and the rays from the sun - a Highland cow. A single Facebook post later, and his work was getting noticed!
Hunter looks forward to practicing his hobby and making a business out of his craft. He appreciates all of the support everyone has shown. |
WHAT IS SONBURNING?
Son has three meanings in the context of "SonBurning."
First, and probably most obvious, is that Hunter is our funny, lovable son.
Next, Hunter has faith in the Son of the Creator, and we all thought it was appropriate that we show our gratitude for His sacrifice.
Finally, a play on the word, sun, as that is the main tool used to create Hunter's art.
